I was so excited this morning to receive my very first foodie penpal post :-)
Foodie penpals is a way for food bloggers and blog readers to get to know each other, via a lovely parcel in the mail every month! Find out more and sign up over at thisisrocksalt.com/foodie-penpals/
The parcel is from Ieva, a lovely lady from Lithuania. She asked me what food I liked and I told her I’d love to try some Lithuanian food and told her about my love of chocolate, so she sent me Lithuanian chocolate! As soon as I opened the parcel and saw the giant bar of chocolate, I thought “I love this girl already!”
She also sent me some green tea with herbs (I don’t drink tea or coffee but I like my herbal teas) a meat marinade with apricot and ginger (wow!) and an interesting cream made with aubergine and sunflower seeds, which I’m really looking forward to trying.
In her letter she included a beautiful photo of the capital’s night skyline and an explanation of the foods she sent, set out in a menu style. The entree being the aubergine and sunflower cream, the main course being the meat marinade, the dessert being the chocolate bars and some green tea to drink. I loved that idea!
This was a really lovely start to my foodie penpal membership and already looking forward to next month. Thank you Ieva! I was assigned a foodie in the Netherlands and sent her some Thorntons chocolate (Eton Mess + Orange & Cardamom flavours) a tin of wasabi powder and a jar of olive tapenade which I hope she enjoys…
By the end of writing this I’ve already began eating some of the chocolate and I can report it is GOOD. Anyone else signed up or thinking of signing up to foodie penpals?
